Affordable LGBTQ+ Counseling in Phoenix
|
Hi, I’m Tres. I’m a counselor and coach who provides LGBTQ+ affirming care for adults and teens facing personal, relational, spiritual, and professional challenges. For 14 years, I’ve walked alongside people through some of the most difficult and meaningful seasons of their lives, including those navigating questions of sexuality, sexual orientation, gender identity, relationships, family, faith, and belonging.
As a member of the LGBTQ+ community myself, I know there are parts of life that can be difficult for others to fully understand from the outside. You shouldn’t have to spend your time in counseling explaining who you are, defending your relationships, or wondering how your counselor really feels about you. You’ll have a place where you can bring your whole self. Our work will be shaped around your situation, goals, values, and what matters most to you. You may be navigating relationships or family dynamics, dealing with stress or grief, working through difficult experiences from your past, exploring questions of identity or purpose, or simply looking for support during a challenging season of life. If you’re questioning or not yet fully out, you’re welcome too. You don’t need to have the answers, adopt a particular label, or disclose anything before you’re ready. We can explore questions of sexuality and identity at your own pace while respecting your values, relationships, faith, and personal boundaries. My approach to counseling depends on your needs, but I often integrate perspectives and practices from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), family systems, Internal Family Systems (IFS), personality theory, emotional intelligence, sandtray therapy, and spiritual direction. Together, these approaches can help us understand the deeper forces shaping your reactions, relationships, beliefs, and sense of purpose. |

For those who have a religious or spiritual background, faith is welcome here too. I understand personally that being LGBTQ+ and Christian can sometimes mean navigating messages telling you that two important parts of yourself cannot coexist. You may deeply value your faith while also carrying painful or confusing experiences connected to religion. You do not have to choose between exploring your spirituality and being affirmed in who you are. Spirituality can be part of our work when desired, but it will never be forced. Whether faith is central to your life, something you’re wrestling with, or simply not a major part of how you see the world, our work will remain centered on you.
My approach is fully affirming. Counseling will absolutely never be used to try to change your sexual orientation or gender identity. There is no hidden agenda about who you should become. My role is to provide a respectful, nonjudgmental place where you can explore your life honestly and work toward greater clarity, strength, and wholeness.

Sliding Scale Counseling
Almost all of my clients pay the standard rate of $195 per session. However, through Prism Connection, I’m able to offer a limited number of appointments on a sliding scale of $75 to $150 per 50-minute session for those who otherwise may not be able to afford my regular rate.
We do not accept any form of insurance. Instead, our sliding scale helps make counseling more affordable without involving an insurance company in your care. This allows for greater privacy and flexibility. You won’t need a mental health diagnosis for insurance billing, and an insurance company won’t determine how many sessions you’re allowed to have. You and I can decide together how often we meet and how long our work continues based on your needs, goals, and circumstances.
Wherever you are in your journey, I’d be honored to walk alongside you as you take the next step.
